Snow MMA‘s North Richland Hills Martial Arts Competition Team is coming home with a lot of gold from Saturday’s AGF Martial Arts Tournament in Duncanville, TX.

– 24 January, 2016 –

Martial Arts has so much to offer kids and a Martial Arts competition team is a great way to keep them challenged, engaged, and motivated to improve and grow. At Snow MMA, we encourage all of our athletes to compete, but there is no pressure for those who do not wish to. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is rewarding on so many levels, and many participate for the health, confidence-boosting, stress relieving, fun, and engaging aspects of training. It’s a journey with an endless opportunity for lots of personal growth. We are so proud to have students willing to step up and meet the challenge of competition; and in turn, becoming leaders and positive examples for their peers.

Why put your child in Jiu-jitsu? Unlike other martial arts such as Karate, Tae Kwon Do, or Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is an ever-growing, spreading, and evolving martial art with incredible opportunities to meet new people and make friends in every corner of the globe. Also, unlike these martial arts, BJJ has the ability to teach patience, calmness under pressure, open-mindedness, perseverance, and confidence in a way that these other martial arts could NEVER hope to. Here’s why: through live training and sparring, a child learning BJJ has to constantly learn to deal with the physical application of pressure, force, strength, and aggression by his / her training partners. With this type of “realistic” training, the ego is destroyed, the individual broken down in his/her false beliefs about how “tough” he is, and then built back up only when focused on the technical learning, training, perseverance, and consistency in trying-again and refusal to give up is embraced.
